I shot this in Columbus Circle on my way back from seeing the EXCELLENT new documentary on the late George Plimpton.

A street memorial for Mark Carson, who was shot and killed on 8th and 6th, yet another hate crime victim.

It’s not Stonehenge, but it is ‘Human Nature’, a new Public Arts exhibit by Ugo Rondinone located at Rockefeller Center.  It’s cool - a nice change up from the usual fare at The Rock.

Here’s a series of shots that I took at and around 5 Pointz in Long Island City.  This ‘Institute Of Higher Burning’ has attracted artists and visitors from all over the world.  Sadly, 5 Pointz is in serious danger of being torn down at the end of the year in favor of…two luxury residential towers.  If you can make it out to 5 Pointz, please do.  If you can’t or if you want to see the building, as is, get granted NYC Landmark status:

Go to http://www.nyc.gov/html/lpc/downloads/pdf/forms/request_for_evaluation.pdf and print out the form completely and RESPECTFULLY (The address of 5 Pointz is 45-46 Davis St, Long Island City, NY 11101. Send in the form to the address provided on said form.

SAVE 5 POINTZ!

I took these pics on May 9th as students at Cooper Union took over the offices of the school’s president to protest plans to implement fees on undergraduate students. The school was established by Peter Cooper who believed that everyone has a right to a free education.  The students are trying to hold on to that ideal.

Another shining example of New York City cynicism…lol

‘I am what I am’…A Popeye inspired mural on Houston Street.

‘Punk inspired’ fashion on display on 5th Avenue.  Can’t buy into any of it.  Not at all…
